Last time
we were given the assignment to find information about retail and department
stores. We are going to work around this subject during this course.
In the last
15 years the retail sector has grown and that is because of steady population,
growth, rising disposable incomes and because of location between Russia,
Baltic and the Nordic countries but we have also had some problems in the Finnish
retail industry in 2013 with the economy and the unemployment rate continued to
increase.
Why Finland
Retail makes sense?
- · Growing demand for brands in the Helsinki metropolitan area
- · Local consumers want to experience new retail trends
- · Increasing demand for luxury products and discounter sales
- · Well-established technology infrastructure creates excellent opportunities for developing E-commerce
- · Increasingly relaxed retail opening hours regulations
- · Large number of Russian visitors boosts retail sales in Finland
- · Finnish operators have widespread experience in Russia and the Baltic countries, offering a safe entry platform to these markets
- · There are currently many shopping centre projects and extensions planned in Finland
